Bhangra- Beginners
Shub Gill
Bhangra was born as a folk dance to celebrate the warm harvest festival in Punjab, the northern state of India, and Pakistan. While it ushered the joyous month of harvest, it filled the air with sounds of drums, vocals and claps. Giving away the warm patriotism and music, this class is full of excitement. Bhangra took the form of boliyan (short poems) accompanied with the bass of the Gho (drum). It is a high-energy vigorous dance, coordinating footwork along with upper body, shoulder, arm and hand movements.
Students will learn the basic steps such as Khara Bhangra (stationary step), Luddi, Jhoomer and Summi in the course of four weeks. Preteens, teens, Adults and Seniors are welcome to join in thecelebratory dance!

Tai Chi/Qi Gong
Josie Zhuo, LAc
Josie Zhuo, a descendant of a long lineage of martial artists in China, joins Seattle Holistic Center in offering Tai Chi and Qi Gong.
Tai Chi is a centuries-old Chinese martial art form, which enhances slow breathing, balance, relaxation, and absolute calmness of mind. Emerging research shows that the meditative practice of Tai Chi is beneficial for improving cardiovascular and respiratory health and sitting in problems such as hypertension, heart disease, asthma, and dyspnea. In addition, Tai Chi is effective for other chronic illnesses such as arthritis, tendonitis, anxiety, and depression.
Qi Gong, or “vital energy exercise,” is the conscious cultivation and manipulation of Qi or vital energy. This healing art combines gentle movements with deep breathing, self-massage, and meditation. With its emphasis on internal conditioning, regular Qi Gong practice enables people to build and store energy. In fact, the more one practices, the more energy one can generate. This energy is vital in maintaining health and building the immune system.

IAM - Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique®
2 Day Course
The IAM Technique is a powerful way to reconnect with our real center, our Inner Self, and thereby experience true joy and peace in life. It was originated by Mata Amritanandamayi (Amma), a renowned Spiritual and Humanitarian leader who received the United Nations 2001 Gandhi-King Award for Nonviolence.
The IAM Technique, when practiced with dedication, is designed to bring about integration in our lives - an integration of body, mind, intellect and heart. Practicing IAM opens up channels of creativity and self-expression, helps one to lead a more balanced life, and gives one a more positive outlook. Amma has said that this meditation acts on a very subtle level--eradicating all our negative tendencies, slowly but surely, and gives obvious practical results very fast.
"Meditation increases your vitality and strengthens your intelligence; your beauty is enhanced; your mental clarity and health improve. You acquire the patience and fortitude to face any problem in life. So, meditate! Only through meditation will you find the treasure you are seeking." -- Amma
